This is what you do to get slim without trying too hard.It starts first with your shopping. When you go shopping next simply do this; One. Buy wholemeal foods. Wholemeal bread, rice, oats, flour etc. Yes, just this one step, easy to take, will over time go a long way towards helping you reach the right size. Wholemeal foods are much better than their refined counterparts. Consumption of refined starches is one of the main causes of being overweight. This is why the 'low carb diet' has become one of the latest 'gimmick' diets, and carbohydrates as such are not a problem. It's refined carbs that cause the problem. Two. Always favour organic foods where possible. There is a good range available in most stores these days and their popularity is growing. They are not a passing fad. A lot of people say their nutritional value is much better and this is true, but their main virtue from a weight loss - and health - point of view is the lack of, or at least minimal use of, chemicals in their production. Chemicals are implicated in weight problems. Three. Buy and use honey rather than sugar. All honeys contain some vitamin C and the darker honeys contain
iron whereas sugar contains little other
than sweetness. Vitamin C is a fragile vitamin - easily destroyed by
heat - so honey is a useful source of this important vitamin. Another
more natural sweetener that is rich in iron is molasses.Four. Introduce more fruit and veg into your diet.. Particularly fruit. Try eating, say, an apple in the morning and a banana in the evening and serving a salad dish several times a week. Baked potato with cheese, butter and a salad for example. Five. Drink just three or four glasses of water per day in addition to your normal intake of beverages. This will serve the twin purposes of re-hydrating the body and curbing any desire to overeat. I know a lot of people recommend 2 litres a day but such an amount is too much for most people and isn't really necessary (a lot of the needed water is provided via your food). While you're at it, if you drink a lot of tea or coffee try to cut down by about half. It's not hard to do and will benefit your health. Try to stick at three cups a day. Six. If you don't already, take a little exercise each day, no need to make too big an issue of it. You know the thing - walk to the shops instead of driving, use stairs instead of the lift. Slight, permanent changes in your lifestyle will go a long way. Seven. Take a bit more interest in cooking. Even if you have a busy lifestyle it's often possible to find to find time to prepare food. Indeed, it can become a good, relaxing way of winding down from a busy day. This doesn't mean you have to become a master chef, just spend a little more time preparing healthy casseroles, roast dinners, baked potato dishes, grilled fish dishes etc. Do serve up the oily fishes ( Trout, Mackerel, Salmon, Herring etc.) regularly because they contain the valuable Omega three fatty acids which we don't eat enough of. Eight. Make a meal of a meal. Eating is an important part of life. Don't rush your food. Sit down and savour the flavours by chewing thoroughly and enjoying. Be aware that you are eating. Food bolted is not digested properly and, apart from being wasteful, can lead to overeating. Where possible make a family occasion of a meal. Nine. Make more use of your freezer. If you have a busy lifestyle how about making a day for cooking for the freezer. Then you will have your own stock of convenience food. Only this time it will be healthy convenience food. Ten. Avoid chemicals as much as you can. Chemical pollution in our household products is a possible factor in overweight and it isn't too difficult to avoid them. Buy natural cleaning products and natural toiletries. An excellent source of information on organic living is the book by Claus Stokholm The ultimate organic lifestyle. This guide will improve your hair, skin, fitness and help you reach your right size naturally. Again, a way of life solution, not another fad. And it's as simple as that. A not too difficult change of lifestyle. No calories counted. No going hungry. You are not measuring the quantity of what you eat, just it's quality. If you need to lose weight this will do it. You will notice over a period of time (months, not weeks) your size will gradually decrease. If you don't need to lose weight then you will have gained the benefits of leading a healthier lifestyle and and will feel, and be, the better for it.
